North Estero Boulevard Drainage Improvement Project
General
Update on Postal Service for North Estero Blvd:

The United States Post Office is unable to provide centrally located, locked, mail collection boxes as was planned for.

Your mailbox will be relocated by the Town to a location close to or adjacent to your property for the duration of the project.

You will be contacted prior to the mailbox being relocated.

It is anticipated that the relocation process will be occurring through November, 2009.

All specialty mailboxes will be the responsibility of the property owner to protect.

Mail service provided to the interior of a building will not be modified through the course of the project.

We apologize for this change of direction, but the post office was just not able to make the accommodations that it had hoped to.

Project Updates

April 14, 2011

Work on the North Estero Blvd. drainage improvement project is nearly complete.  Substantial completion has been issued and Southwest Utility Systems, Inc. has been working consistently to finish up all outstanding work.  Final completion is expected the first part of May.

December 6, 2010:

Construction progress in moving along well.  The stormwater collection and conveyance infrastructure is nearly complete.  Two short segments of piping remain to be constructed and will be installed immediately upon delivery of the material.  The last stormwater treatment areas are currently under construction and should be finished in approximately 10 days.  Along with finishing the curbing and sidewalk, the Town’s contractor is milling the road and preparing the final base course for paving.

June 1, 2010:

All new potable water service connections have been completed and the new water lines are fully activated.  All customers within the project area have automatic read meters installed.  These new meters add a level of efficiency in that they are read automatically without the need to open each water meter box and entering the reading manually into the reading device.  These meters also provide continual monitoring of usage and leaks that may be occurring.

To date four stormwater treatment beds have been installed and the installation of the stormwater collection and conveyance system has begun.  Work is progressing from the north end of the roadway to the south along both sides of the road.  With the large equipment needed to install the pipe, traffic delays can be expected.  Night work will be used to accomplish the crossings of the stormwater piping.  To date four nights, June 16 and June 17 and June 23 and June 24 have been approved.  It is likely that additional night work will take place in July.

Southwest Utility Systems, Inc. will be performing night work on 4 upcoming dates in June; Wednesday, June 16 and June 17 and again on June 23 and June 24.  The work will commence at 9:00 PM and continue to 6:00 AM.  The Town’s contractor will be installing interconnecting stormwater pipes which cross North Estero Blvd. at various locations.  To accomplish these crossings, large equipment will be located in the travel lanes, which presents safety issues for pedestrians and vehicles.  To reduce these safety issues the work will be performed at night.  The roadway will be open to local traffic, but will be delayed while the equipment is operating.  Please contact Town Hall at 765-0202 ext 109 with any questions.

March 18, 2010:

The newly installed water lines have been certified for use by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Lee County Health Department. The Town’s contractor, Southwest Utility Systems, Inc., will begin installing new water meters and transferring the existing service connections the week of March 22, 2010. It will be necessary to interrupt service on an individual basis to establish the new service connection. It is estimated that the interruption will last approximately one-half hour. Customers will be notified in advance of service interruption. Thank you for your patience while this transition is being made.

December 3rd, 2009:

Water lines are now being installed on the gulf side of North Estero Blvd.  Due to conflicts with TECO gas and Embarq telephone, the Town’s contractor has found it necessary to begin installation at Gulf shore Drive and work south toward Lynn Hall Park.  It is anticipated that construction of the water lines should be completed and service connection switched over by mid-February.  The project remains on schedule.
